Women’s Leadership Conference Hits the Mark

Nearly 60 credit union professionals gathered at the Harraseeket Inn on Monday to participate in the annual Women’s Leadership Conference. Attendees overwhelmingly provided positive feedback about the day.

Stacie VanDenBerghe, CEO of CU INNOVATE, encouraged attendees to load their teams with people who are fully engaged in their credit union’s mission and operations—working for and with people who believe in what they do and why is critical. “Ask your employees what you are bad at and what do you do that is amazing,” said VanDenBerghe. “Consider what your employees say ‘no’ to that they would like to say ‘yes’ to.”

Meridith Elliott Powell told attendees that 70% of employees are willing to fill out a survey that says they are just showing up to get a paycheck. But a credit union’s success is 100% dependent on how much its employees care.

“We are thrilled with the presentations of both speakers,” said Cheryl Lancaster, EVP, Member Services at the League. “Both provided real value to attendees, stressing the importance of advancing, adapting, and innovating.”

One conference attendee commented, “Great day, lots of great strategies. Very dynamic and reality based. So many eye-opening things to take back to our credit union and use in my life! So impressed”.
