Maine Credit Union League Endorses Shawn Moody for Governor

The Maine Credit Union League is pleased to announce their endorsement of Shawn Moody for Governor. As a long-time credit union member and leader in Maine’s business community, the League believes Shawn will work hard to ensure Maine’s credit unions have a voice at the table and opportunities to overcome legislative and regulatory challenges.

“For the last several months, our League has been weighing the decision to endorse a candidate for governor,” said Todd Mason, CEO/President with the Maine Credit Union League. “But after careful deliberation, we felt it would be in our membership’s best interests to announce our support for Shawn Moody because we believe he will be a champion for the credit union movement in Augusta.”

As part of the endorsement process, the League’s Political Involvement Committee spent the summer months researching the gubernatorial candidates, analyzing their track records for supporting credit union issues, and assessing their relationships with their local credit unions. The League did not consider party affiliation when making its endorsement decision and has a long history of endorsing candidates on both sides of the aisle.

“Maine voters are fortunate to have a great roster of candidates to choose from this election cycle, but, we hope our endorsement of Shawn Moody will go a long way in encouraging our nearly 700,000 credit union members to cast their vote for Shawn,” added Mason.  “If we help elect pro-credit union candidates, we will be better positioned to meet our public policy goals at all levels of government.  That’s good for our League, but more importantly, that’s good for our members.”
