The Maine Credit Union League is pleased to announce the appointment of Cheryl Lancaster, Executive Vice President of Member Services for the Maine Credit Union League, to the ProsperityME Board of Directors. Lancaster began serving her term earlier this month.

“It is truly an honor to join the board of ProsperityME,” said Cheryl Lancaster, Executive Vice President of the Maine Credit Union League. “Their work to promote financial literacy in the community is in line with the work we do every day here at the League. It’s a great fit for me, both personally and professionally.”

ProsperityME, formerly known as Community Financial Literacy, offers financial services including financial literacy courses to refugees, immigrants, and low-income individuals.  Through education and counseling, ProsperityME helps members of refuge and immigrant communities navigate the economic system and encourages them to invest in themselves.

“Ensuring new Mainers have the tools they need to make sound financial decisions is important,” added Lancaster. “I have been working for Maine’s credit union network for over 25 years, and I am eager to put my knowledge and experience to great use on this Board.”

ProspertityME’s board is comprised of business and community leaders who are dedicated to helping refugees and immigrants achieve financial stability.  The organization’s work is primarily focused in the communities of Portland and Lewiston/Auburn.

“The Maine Credit Union League strongly supports ProsperityME’s mission and I am thrilled Cheryl is joining their Board,” said Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League.  “Cheryl is a passionate advocate for financial literacy and her expertise in this field will be a valuable complement to ProsperityME’s team.”
