‘Retire on Track’ Fairs are a powerful financial education tool for other demographics

Last year, the Maine CU Financial Literacy Council announced that the ‘Retire on Track’ Fair was now available in Maine.  Thanks to support from CUNA Mutual Group, the ‘Retire on Track’ fair is available for all CUs to utilize as a way of helping members in a variety of age groups plan for retirement.

“While many of our financial education efforts have been focused on students and young adults, planning for retirement is an opportunity to connect with multiple demographics.  Organized much like a Financial Fitness – Money Management Experience Fair, only with different booths, the ‘Retire on Track’ Fairs are a nice compliment to bring financial education to consumers in all stages of retirement planning,” stated Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement.

With research showing that less than 1 in 3 Americans have any retirement savings, the need to prepare and plan for retirement should begin at an early age.  “Consumers just starting their careers are a perfect demographic to target so they can get a headstart on planning.  Studies show that the earlier people start saving for retirement, the more it adds up over the course of their lives,” explained Paradise.

The ‘Retire on Track’ materials are available through your League and can be utilized by any credit union. “Credit unions have not traditionally been thought of as places to help with retirement planning so ‘Retire on Track’ can help change that thinking,” added Paradise.
