In his 27 years leading Eastmill FCU, Dan Byron, President/CEO, has overseen many changes including a new branch, doubling shares and loans, and making “our credit union a focal point in our community.  Dan is a big reason why Eastmill FCU is vibrant and thriving.”

The recipient of the 2018 James A. Gratto Award for Outstanding CU CEO, Byron, began his CU career in Madawaska at Fraser CU (now NorState FCU) in Marketing and Member Services.  As he described it in his remarks on stage, Byron was approached to lead Eastmill FCU several years later.  “With the support of a wonderful board, staff, family and community, I was able to learn and contribute to the credit union.  This award belongs to the many people who have helped me and continue to help me everyday.”

Carol LeVasseur, Board Secretary, at Eastmill FCU, praised Dan for “being a shining example of a person going above and beyond in everything he does because it’s the right thing to do.  As a board, we are very blessed to have a CEO with such devotion.”

In addition to serving as CEO, Byron also serves on the East Millinocket School Committee, as a Trustee for the Insurance Trust, and a member of the Northern Penobscot Chapter of CUs Board.
