Chapters share stories of contributing

From financial fitness fairs to fundraising, credit union chapters in Maine play a vital role in promoting the cooperative spirit of credit unions.  In recent months, various credit union chapters in Maine shared stories of involvement from their areas.  As the Maine CU League moves forward with its initiative to find ways to enhance and strengthen the Chapter structure including participation, getting younger staff involved and a more streamlined speaker’s bureau, here are a few successful activities involving  Maine CU Chapters.

Aroostook Chapter – Giving Money

Representatives from the Aroostook Chapter of CUs were joined by Jake Holmes of the Maine CU League at the Chapter’s Financial Fitness Fair in May. At the event, the Chapter presented a $1,000 scholarship to a lucky graduate.

Aroostook Chapter – Raising Money

Bad weather slow us down? No way – not with the Aroostook Chapter of CUs gathered here during the Chapter’s Annual ATV Ride in June to raise funds for the Maine CUs’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, CULAC and Special Olympics. Despite the “less than ideal” weather conditions, participation was strong and there were plenty of smiles.

Bangor Chapter – CMN

Representatives from the Bangor Chapter of CUs gathered in late May to hold its Annual Chapter event for the Children’s Miracle Network. In addition to a packed house, the event raised $37,000 for Eastern Maine Health System’s CMN Foundation.

York County Chapter – Giving Time

The York County Chapter of Credit Unions held their annual Spring into Action Day recently. This year, volunteers from the Chapter spent the day doing yard work (and enjoying the beautiful weather) by the lake at Waban.
