Annual Meeting: Nearly All present and accounted for!

After serving on the Maine CU League Board for the past 13 years, including the past two as Chair, Rick Lachance stepped down as Chair and from the Board. He was honored for his service with a Gavel at the end of the Annual Meeting by Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine CU League.

The Maine CU League’s 80th Annual Meeting and Convention can be summed up by two words: great attendance!  With representatives from 51 of Maine’s 55 credit unions in attendance, the Annual Meeting had one of the highest CU participation rates in recent memory.

“It says a lot about the level of involvement on the part of Maine CUs that we had nearly all of our credit unions represented at the Annual Meeting.  As Secretary for the League Board, it was really gratifying to see such a high level of participation when doing a roll-call,” remarked David Desjardins, President/CEO of Acadia FCU and Secretary of the Maine CU League Board of Directors.

The Annual Meeting included remarks from Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine CU League, who highlighted the strong past, positive present and bright future of the CU System in Maine.  “This year we celebrated 80 years of creating connections, which shows the strength that we are as a credit union movement.  Think for a minute of all the connections that you have. Think of this room, the friendships, the relationships, the partnerships, the collaboration, the cooperation. It’s those things that make us strong. It’s those things that help us serve 700,000 members that we have in our state.”

In addition, outgoing Board Chair Rick Lachance addressed attendees.  “I am excited about the new path and vision we have embarked upon, and feel confident that we are linking and leveraging our strengths and opportunities in ways that will ensure our long-term viability and success,” he explained.

Various Committee reports highlighted the many collaborative initiatives happening at the League, and the strong important role that involvement and cooperation have in the success of the League and Maine’s credit unions.

In other action, Delegates also re-elected Joann Bisson, President/CEO of Trademark FCU, to a new three-year term as Director-At-Large.

Immediately following the Meeting, the League Board met to elect its 2018-2019 Table Officers.  The following were elected to serve for the upcoming year: Board Chair – Tucker Cole, President/CEO of Maine State CU; Vice Chair – Joann Bisson, President/CEO of Trademark FCU; Secretary – David Desjardins, President/CEO of Acadia FCU; and Treasurer – Scott Chretien, President/CEO of York County FCU.
