Stronger together! Maine is one of only three states nationwide with 100% CU-League affiliation

The Maine Credit Union League recently reported that it has attained 100% affiliation for all Maine credit unions in 2018, as well 100% affiliation with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).  Todd Mason, President of the Maine CU League, said the affiliation rate is “a source of great pride for the League and our entire system.  We are strong because we cooperate and collaborate with each other, and our affiliation rate confirms that strength.  We are one of only three leagues in the country to have that for this year.”

Mason said that having a strong three-tier system is “critical to our success and our future.  On the state level, our strength is in our ability to come together on a variety of efforts and initiatives including legislative advocacy, statewide awareness, ending hunger, education and financial literacy.  On the national level, CUNA plays a similar role advocating for credit unions on Capitol Hill, the NCUA, with the CFPB and other government agencies, and with consumers across the country.  As a system, we are strongest together, and I am pleased that our credit unions recognize the value that being a member-owner of the League and of CUNA provides.”

As of year-end 2017, Maine had 56 credit unions with nearly 200 branches.
