The Skastitutes are Young & Free Maine’s “Sound Off” Music Competition Winner!
February 24, 2014
The winner of Young & Free Maine’s Third Annual Sound Off Competition was decided at a live audition on February 21 at Main Street Studios in Bangor. The Skastitutes were awarded the grand prize, with The Roman Counterpart and Samantha Lynn, coming in as 1st and 2nd runners up.
From January 3 to January 27, Young & Free Maine invited musicians ages 18-25 to submit an audio or video recording of them singing or performing original music to a special page on the Young & Free Maine website, YoungFreeMaine.com. From January 29 – February 12, the public voted to choose the top 5 artists and/or bands!
The top 5 artists and bands that competed in the live audition are (in alphabetical order): Fools Rule, Samantha Lynn, SirEEL, The Roman Counterpart, and The Skastitutes.
These musicians performed in front of a panel of industry professionals who determined the Grand Prize winner, as well as the 1st and 2nd runners up.
The Skastitutes received a package that includes a $1,000 gift certificate for recording including tracking, editing & mixing at Main Street Music Studio in Bangor. They are also awarded a spot to perform live on a prime stage location at the KahBang music festival, held in August 2014. Prizes will also be awarded to the 1st and 2nd runners up.
