CU Rock Star Named For Maine

November 1, 2016

As part of the Co-op month and International Credit Union Week celebration, each year Credit Union Magazine selects a 'CU Rock Star' from each state.  The Maine Credit Union League is pleased to report that one of its own, Jon Paradise, Vice President of Governmental and Public Affairs for the League, was selected to represent Maine in this year's issue.

"This honor is a tribute to the leadership of League President John Murphy and the Board, always keeping the focus on helping and supporting us in all that we do.  I am proud to be part of not only a great organization but, in my opinion, the greatest credit union system in the country.  Working with Maine credit unions is a pleasure so I share this honor with everyone," remarked Paradise

In the profile, Paradise was cited for his "commitment and work in helping grow the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger.  This is 'our' campaign, not the League's but all of the credit union's in the state.  I have viewed my role as one of support and enthusiasm, as well as working to create new fundraising opportunities to offer credit unions.  This is certainly a collaborative effort that continues to get stronger."

Murphy congratulated Paradise on being named a CU Rock Star and "praised his advocacy and work supporting credit unions.  Our organization is about helping credit unions, and Jon is committed to our mission and demonstrates that regularly.  We are proud that he was recognized."

Paradise added that the best part about the 'Rock Star' designation is "that it just reinforces why this is such a great industry.  People support each other."
