CU Board Member Running For Maine Senate Seat In Special Election

March 17, 2016

PeoplesChoice Credit Union Board Member, Susan Deschambault, is running in the Special Election being held to fill the open Maine Senate seat in District 32 that was vacated in January when Senator David Dutremble announced his resignation due to personal reasons.  As a Board Member, Deschambault, who lives in Biddeford and works for the Maine Correctional System, has been an active participant in credit union activities, and helped to organize two, CU-coordinated Financial Fitness Fairs at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham.

"Susan is a committed credit union volunteer, and would be a a great friend of credit unions to have in Augusta.  While she is running clean and is not taking financial contributions, the League is working with Susan to help support her Campaign in any way we are needed including making phone calls and driving Susan around the Senate District to campaign," explained John Murphy, President of the Maine CU League.

Deschambault, who recently attended the Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C., is passionate about what credit unions do, and recognizes the important role that credit unions play in their communities and in the lives of members.

Sue previously served on the Biddeford City Council, and has been involved in a number of other community activities and organizations.

The special Election to fill the unexpired term of Senator Dutremble will be held on Tuesday, March 29th.
