CU Board Member re-elected as Maine House Minority Leader

November 23, 2016

After successfully winning re-election on November 8, Rep. Ken Fredette, who has served on the Board of Sebasticook Valley FCU for the past two decades, was recently re-elected to a third term as the Minority Leader in the Maine House.

"We enthusiastically congratulate Ken on not only his re-election, but look forward to having a strong credit union advocate serving as House Minority Leader for the next session," stated John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League.

"I am proud to be a long-time credit union volunteer, and I have witnessed first-hand the important role that credit unions can have in the lives of their members and in the communities they serve.  My perspective serving on a Credit Union Board enables me to bring a unique level of understanding of how issue and bills will impact a credit union, either positively or negatively," explained Rep. Fredette at a credit union gathering earlier this year.

Rep. Fredette expressed his appreciation to the Maine Credit Union League for not only "their early endorsement of my campaign but their financial support, as well."

"Ken has been a valued partner and friend of the League and Maine's credit unions in Augusta, and we are pleased that he will be in a position to be a strong voice of support for credit unions in the new Legislature," added Murphy.
