The Maine Credit Union League joins many others across the Credit Union Movement in mourning the loss of long-time Northeast CU, an Associate Member of the League, President/CEO, Peter Kavalauskas, who was killed in a snowmobiling accident in New Hampshire this past weekend.
Kavalauskas, a 35-year veteran of the credit union including nearly the past thirty as President/CEO of the Portsmouth, NH-based credit union with a branch in Maine, had just announced his retirement this upcoming June the day before the accident. As an Associate Member of the Maine Credit Union League, Kavalauskas often attended many political and educational events offered by the League.
"Peter was a not only a dedicated and committed leader but a great person and family man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and officials and staff at his credit union during this difficult time," expressed John Murphy, President of the League.
