Changing Of The Guard: Maine CUs Appoint New CEOs

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

To replace retiring leaders, five credit unions across Maine have recently appointed new Presidents/CEOs.  Each of the new CEOs have lengthy credit union experience, and will all be in their new positions by July 1st.

"The transition to the next generation of credit union leaders has been underway for the past couple of years but this year has the most retirements in a single year that we have seen for quite a while.  It's just a matter of timing, and all of the individuals have been planning their retirements for several years.  We will miss all of the knowledge and experience that those retiring have, but we are also looking forward to working with the new leaders taking their place as Maine credit unions continue to grow and move forward into the future," explained John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League.

The following credit unions have appointed new Presidents/CEOs in the past two months: York County FCU - Scott Chretien; Midcoast FCU - Joe Gervais; Changing Seasons FCU - Sue Cross; Gardiner FCU - Vicki Lemieux; and NorState FCU - Sue Whitehead.

Maine currently has 61 credit unions and 625,000 members.
