10:00 – 11:00 am  Introduction and Legal Update
We will begin with an overview of current hot topics in employment law. Issues to be addressed will include: speech in the workplace; workplace safety and workplace violence policies; the status of Maine’s marijuana law; the status of the federal/state wage and hour law changes; and family friendly paid leave policies.

11:00 – Noon         Unlawful Harassment and Discrimination in the  Workplace
It’s time to rethink how we approach sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace and how credit unions should respond including key steps and their duty to investigate.

12:30 – 3:00 pm     Workshop: How to Conduct a Workplace Investigation
This hands-on workshop will teach attendees a step-by-step approach to conduct an accurate investigation while maintaining workplace morale. This is an engaging, interactive session in which participants will analyze real fact patterns, conduct mock interviews with the accused, the accuser, and a key witness. Attendees will also participate in writing an investigation report and take home best practices and a framework for leading their next workplace investigation.
