January 8, 2008

Biz Kid$, a new TV series to teach kids about money and supported by Maine's Credit Unions along with Credit Union Movements nationwide, will begin airing on the TV stations of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network on Sunday, January 27th at 5:00 p.m.

In addition to Maine, the 26-episode series will be aired in the nation's top three public television markets: Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago, and 42 other states.

"We are pleased that this project aimed at visually teaching kids about money and personal finance will be airing all across Maine.  Along with the growing number of youth financial fitness fairs being held by credit unions throughout the State, this is another tool in building awareness and understanding on the part of both kids and parents about the importance of fnancial literacy.  America's Credit Unions, including Maine's credit unions, are proud to be the major funder of this series and look forward to continuing to increase our financial efforts with Maine youth as well as other consumers," explained John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League.

The stations of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network include WCBB, WMED, WMEM, WMEA, WMEB, and covers the entire state.  While the show will air Sundays at 5:00 p.m., it will also be rebroadcast on Mondays in HD.
