January 4, 2008 The Maine Credit Union Movement is mourning the loss of two long-time volunteers who passed away over the holidays. One volunteer, Charles Noddin, was still serving as a member of the board of Katahdin FCU in Millinocket at the time of his death. The other volunteer was Laurier Bazinet, who at one time served as a member of the board at the former St. Joseph FCU (now Rainbow FCU) in Lewiston.
Noddin passed away on Wednesday, December 19th at the age of 75 while visiting relatives in Georgia. A volunteer at Katahdin FCU for the past 28 years, Mr. Noddin served in a variety of capacities on the board including several years as chairman and vice chairman.
On December 20th, Mr. Bazinet, whose service included time as president of St. Joseph FCU in Lewiston (now Rainbow FCU), passed away at the age of 87.
John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League, said both individuals are a "tribute to their credit unions and the entire Credit Union Movement and will be remembered for their commitment and contributions as dedicated volunteers."
