April 16, 2007 The CU24 SurF Network that provides surcharge-free ATM access for members of participating Maine credit unions is pleased to announce that a new credit union has joined the network and brings three, new locations to the more than 160 locations that already exist. As of April 2, 2007, PeoplesChoice Credit Union became part of the surcharge-free network and its three ATM locations in Biddeford, Sanford and Wells are now available for SurF transactions.
Formed in 1999 to provide added ATM convenience without surcharges for Maine credit union members, nearly 90% of Maine's credit unions, representing more than 525,000 credit union members, are part of the CU24 SurF Network. There are SurF locations across Maine from York to Fort Kent and everywhere in between. With the SurF Network, members of participating credit unions can access their money at any SurF ATM location without paying a surcharge, a benefit that saves members an average of $300 a year in ATM fees. However, the savings provided members through the SurF Network is in addition to the already lower and fewer fees and better rates that credit unions provide to members.
