August 31, 2010 One of the reasons Maine CUs are consistently ranked as 'Best in Service' by members is because of the culture and philosophy. It is clear that culture carries over to the workplace, too. Recently, two Maine credit unions were among 40 organizations in Maine to be selected as "Best Places To Work in Maine." In a survey of employees done by the Society for Human Resource Management - Maine State Council, Mainebiz, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, The Employment Times and Best Companies Group, Hampden-based Maine Savings FCU, and Saco-based PeoplesChoice CU, received the Best Places to Work designation. This marks the second consecutive year that Maine Savings FCU has received the honor.
The final rankings of workplaces will be announced at a special ceremony on October 12th in Lewiston. According to Jackie Miller, Program Coordinator for Best Companies Group, who conducts the survey and report, "This is a distinction that comes from hard work and commitment. Having employees who are happy with where they work says a lot about the organization. Everyone at these two credit unions should be very proud of this accomplishment."
