At its recent meeting, the Maine Credit Union League board of directors appointed James Lemieux, President/CEO of Sebasticook Valley FCU, to fill the remaining year of the three year term of the At-large position on the League board vacated when the previous board member resigned due to a merger.

Lemieux has been President/CEO at Sebasticook Valley FCU, which has locations in Pittsfield and Newport, for the past nine years, and has worked in the CU Movement for 16 years. Though new to the board, Lemieux has been actively involved in the Maine CU Movement including serving on the League's Governmental Affairs Committee, and was recently elected President of the Kennebec Valley Chapter of Credit Unions after serving as its Treasurer for a number of years.

Upon his appointment, Lemieux said he looks forward to "working with the other board members in helping the League to continue to provide advocacy, products and services to credit unions and their members."

John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League, said, "Jim has been a strong supporter of Maine's credit unions and we are pleased to have him join the board."

As part of his role on the board, Lemieux was appointed chair of the League's Membership Growth Committee, a new ad-hoc committee that will explore helping credit unions continue to attract new members and retain current members.
