August 24, 2007

Tom DeFrank, an award-winning political journalist and author and who is second in seniority among White House Reporters, will be speaking to Maine credit unions at the Annual Maine Credit Union League's Legislative Forum on Tuesday, September 18th in Freeport.

DeFrank, who was one of only three individuals to give a eulogy at the funeral of President Ford, has covered every President since Richard Nixon and interviewed each one a number of times.

While in Maine, DeFrank will appear before credit union leaders and discuss the important role of politics in successful organizations as well as provide and early preview of the 2008 elections.

"Tom DeFrank is considered one of the top political journalists in the country and his 37 years of experience of covering politics is remarkable. To have someone who is a frequent guests on all of the political news shows will be a real thrill. We believe that attendees will bring back valuable information to share with other credit union staff, volunteers and members," explained John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League.

A frequent visitor to Maine covering both the visits of President George H.W. Bush and the current President George W. Bush during stays in Kennebunkport, DeFrank is looking forward to returning. "I love Maine and its people and am excited about the opportunity to speak before an audience of individuals associated with credit unions," he explained.
