Legislature Honors Credit Unions At State House

March 24, 2008

Nearly 75 representatives from Maine credit unions received a warm welcome from legislators during the Annual Credit Union Day at the State House in Augusta recently.  The event included a Joint Resolution that was presented in both the Maine House and Senate recognizing the valuable role of Maine credit unions in communities across Maine.

During the morning-long event, attendees spent most of the time interacting with legislators. Most legislators, including many legislative leaders from both parties, stopped by, and were unanimous in stating, "Maine credit unions do so much for Maine people."

The Legislature's Joint Resolution recognized "the Maine Credit Union League and Maine's credit unions for the positive contributions and significant role they have made on the lives of Maine citizens and their communities for more than eighty-seven years.  Your service and dedication to this State is a tribute to many of those values and principals that we all hold dear."
