Proving that Maine's credit unions aren't just about helping people achieve their financial dreams, the 6th Annual 'Sound Off' Music competition, presented by Young & Free Maine, which is powered by Maine's credit unions, gave a big boost to help some Maine musicians' realize their life dreams. Red Claws fan wins $3,300 with one shot, thanks to Maine CUs

Nothing but net! That's what happened when Nate Pike took his turn at swishing a three-pointer in the 'Shot of the Game' contest, sponsored by Maine CUs, at this past Sunday's Maine Red Claws game. Because no one had hit the shot yet this season, the jackpot had grown to $3,300. Pike, who was randomly selected to take the shot, calmly sank it and, just like that, was $3,300 richer, as the crowd at the Portland Expo cheered loudly. Read More...


Technology makes Maine winter 'snow problem' for Maine CU members

If spring is truly upon us, winter hasn't heard yet. With last Tuesday's blizzard in many parts of Maine, it was another day of travel disruption, closed schools and businesses. However, thanks to the the latest technology, many of Maine's 685,000 credit union members were able to conduct transactions, obtain loans and access their accounts, even though their branch was closed because of the storm. Maine CUs' Partnership with high schools, Good Shepherd Food Bank, and TV Stations yields Nearly 175,000 lbs of food for Maine's hungry

On Friday, March 10, Season 8 of the School Spirit Challenge on WGME CBS 13 and FOX 23 concluded in a special ceremony at their studios and the big winner was: Ending Hunger in Maine. The effort, which challenges high schools to raise food and money, was once again sponsored by Maine's credit unions and the Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger. The five participating schools collectively raised nearly 175,000 lbs of food, with Telstar Regional High School in Bethel taking top honors by raising nearly 60,000 lbs of food. Read More...


Largest ever Maine CU attendance at Washington, D.C., Conference hears lots of praise from Maine's Congressional Delegation

From now until March 9, votes are being cast to determine the Top 2 in both the Soloist/Duo category and the Groups category. Strength of Maine CUs Highlighted in Regional Report

Recently, the New England Council released a report called, The New England Financial Services Industry: Around the Corner and Around the World, and, in it, the strength of Maine's credit unions were among the headlines in the section on Maine. The report provided an overview and analysis of the financial services industry in each New England state, and underscored the important role that the industry plays not only with consumers but as employers. In re-introducing Senior$afe legislation, Senator Collins cites a Maine CU's work in preventing elder financial abuse

Recently, Senator Collins re-introduced the Senior$afe Act of 2017 (S.223), and the Senator highlighted the work of Maine's credit unions in keeping seniors' finances safe. While introducing the bill, Senator Collins gave an example of how a Maine credit union was instrumental in preventing elder financial abuse.
