Maine Credit Union League Presents Awards To Six Individuals

As part of its recent 78th Annual Meeting & Convention held in Portland, the Maine Credit Union League presented its Annual Awards to six individuals who, combined, have nearly 175 years of experience being involved with Maine's credit unions. Financial Fitness Fairs Getting Impressive News Coverage, Positive Results Statewide

Membership, Loan Growth Spur Record 2015 For Maine CUs

In the past two years, more than 30,000 Maine consumers have joined a Maine credit union, continuing the migration of consumers to credit unions for financial services. This brings total credit union membership in Maine to 667,427. In recently released year-end statistics of Maine's credit unions, 2015 saw strong growth in not only membership but in all other significant categories including a $351 million increase in new loans over the past year. Maine CUs' Contribute Nearly $830,000 In Volunteer Time

With the celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 10-16), the Maine Credit Union League released its results for documented volunteer time contributed by Maine credit unions in 2015. Through its CUs' Share for ME Volunteer program, the League is pleased to report that Maine credit unions collectively volunteered a total of 40,085 hours for community organizations, activities and events during the past year, the second highest documented total in the 14-year history of the program. . Music and Money prove right in tune for aspiring Maine musicians

Finalists in the band and soloist/duo categories of the Sound Off Music Competition gathered at the Next Generation Theater in Brewer recently, to perform their original music live before a panel of judges. Portland-based duo Happy Folk and the band Max Ater & The Marshalls of Bath were the Grand Prize winners of 'Sound Off', sponsored by Maine's credit unions. Both winners received a $500 gift certificate to Main Street Music Studios and the opportunity to perform at the 2016 Old Port Festival on Sunday, June 12. Read More...


From offering savings to consumers to ending hunger, Legislators recognize Maine CUs before record crowd at State House

More than 125 credit union representatives from credit unions across Maine heard bipartisan praise from legislative leaders and legislators about the work and contribution of Maine credit unions to communities across Maine. "Credit unions are local and exist to serve their members, and that makes a difference," remarked House Minority Leader Ken Fredette. Senate Minority Leader Justin Alfond called the efforts of Maine credit unions to ending hunger "remarkable, especially the impact that your fundraising has on helping Maine children." CU Board Member elected to the Maine Senate, Looks forward to representing Maine CUs in Augusta
