Young & Free Maine set to help with 'Back to School' book costs

After spending most of his first six weeks as the new Young & Free Maine Spokester on the road making appearances at the Old Port Festival, Whoopie Pie Festival, Moxie Festival, Maine Potato Blossom Festival, Lobster Festival and, most recently, the Great Falls Balloon Festival, Jake Holmes is doing what many Mainers are doing - focusing on back to school. Success keeps adding up! A record 6,904 students participate in Maine CU Financial Fitness Fairs during past school year

With new schools and more students encouraged to participate, the 2015/16 Financial Fitness - Money Management Experience events reached a new record in the number of students participating. In just-released figures from the Maine Credit Union League, which tracks all fairs and number of students, a total of 6,904 students participated in one of the thirty-five or so fairs that took place during the past school year. In addition, a first-ever Fair was held for legislators to experience and discuss what the fairs are all about as part of Maine CU Day at the State House in March. Read More...


Food pantries across state receive significant contribution from Maine CUs to combat summertime hunger

While most people are thinking about being enjoying all that Maine has to offer in the summertime, such as being at the beach, lake, barbecues, festivals and parks, the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger shined the light on a major problem in the state - summertime hunger. First quarter stats all positive for Maine CUs

In recently-released first quarter statistics by the Maine Credit Union League, Maine's credit unions grew in every major, measurement category including adding more than 5,000 new members bringing total membership to an all-time high at 672,672 members statewide. Radio interview Highlights strengths, popularity (and superhero status) of Maine's credit unions

How positive was an interview that started out with the line, "Credit unions are superheroes?" That was just one of the positive soundbytes that came out of an interview recently that featured John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League, as a guest on the widely-listened to George Hale and Ric Tyler Morning Show on The Voice of Maine NewsTalk radio network. New Young & Free Maine Spokester Announced

It's official! Jake Holmes is the new Young & Free Spokester for Maine's 25-and- under crowd. The official announcement was made at this year's Convention during the 78th Annual Delegates' Meeting & Luncheon on Friday, May 20. Jake will assume the position, previously held by Mallory Lavoie for two consecutive terms, on Friday, June 17. Read More...
