Maine's credit unions set a new fundraising record for the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger in 2014 by raising $552,257.43!


2015 Convention Information!

The 77th Annual Maine Credit Union League Meeting & Convention is happening May 14-16, 2015.  The Convention Golf Tournament for Ending Hunger is May 14 at Belgrade Lakes Golf Course in Belgrade Lakes, followed by the two-day Convention on May 15-16, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.  The field of 144 golfers is sold out, but plenty of support opportunities (available to fit any budget) are still available.  Exhibitor and advertising nformation is now available, too, but spaces are going fast.

Maine CUs Talk Community-Service, Helping Others At Annual Radiothon

As part of the Annual Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Radiothon with 107.5 Frank FM and 99.9 The Wolf, Maine's credit unions had the opportunity to discuss not only the support of CMN but the many other community-service initiatives, including ending hunger, that Maine credit unions help in the state.

Free Checking Accounts As Popular As Ever At Maine CUs

According to a new survey conducted by, free checking accounts with no fees or restrictions are nearing extinction with barely one-third of banks surveyed reporting it as an offering. However, a recent survey of Maine credit unions found that 100% of Maine credit unions' responding still offer free checking accounts, and 95% have no minimum balance requirements.

Senator Collins Praises Efforts Of Maine's Credit Unions In Fighting Elder Financial Abuse

Senator Collins, who Chairs the Senate Special Committee Aging, is focused significant attention in recent months on the growing issue of elder financial abuse and exploitation. Recently, during a visit by Maine credit union representatives in Washington, D.C., Senator Collins praised the efforts of Maine's credit unions "as showing great leadership in helping to raise awareness and understanding about how to combat elder financial abuse in Maine. Your efforts are making a difference."
