Maine CUs Contribution To Fund Significant Expansion Of Childhood Hunger Programs In Maine

On Monday, September 28, at the Portland High School, the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger made a $25,000 contribution to help support efforts to fight childhood hunger in Maine. The funds will go to support and expand school food pantries and BackPack programs in Maine, including at Portland High School, the site of the very first school pantry, which opened in 2012, through Good Shepherd Food Bank. The donation is a portion of the record-breaking $557,257 raised in 2014 by the Maine Credit Unions’ Camp…

Maine CU Professional Helps Consumers Understand Credit Scores; Highlights CU Difference

Recently, a Maine credit union professional appeared on a local TV segment to explain how credit scores work, what they mean and how credit unions often look beyond credit scores to help consumers, once again highlighting the difference between credit unions and other financial institutions.

Red Cross, Hunger Organizations Receive Contributions From Maine CUs In Remembrance Of 9/11

"As a way to honor and remember those who perished on 9/11, the Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger would like to pay tribute to those who help people in Maine deal with their own 'emergencies' on a daily basis," said Jon Paradise, VP of Governmental & Public Affairs for the Maine Credit Union League, at a ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial in Portland. Checks were presented to the Emergency Food Relief Funds of all five Red Cross Chapters and a hunger organization from each of the five regions the Chapters serve.
