Jake Holmes, the new Young & Free Maine Spokester, will be putting the miles on the Green Machine this summer visiting various fairs and festivals and other places millennials hang out.  Last weekend, he was at the Maine Potato Blossom Festival in Fort Fairfield.  Next up are Fridays at the Pier in Old Orchard Beach, and the Maine Lobster Festival.  Connect with Jake at


C-U history lesson this summer?

The history of credit unions in North America goes back to the early 1900s and the very first credit union was formed in Manchester, NH.  In that very location is where America's Credit Union Museum is located today!  The Maine Credit Union League and Maine's credit unions are proud partners and supporters of America's CU Museum.  It's worth a visit this summer or anytime.  Click here for information.


Watch a 'Golden' Day for ending hunger in Maine...

The ceremony announcing the record-setting 2015 Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger total featured Olympic icon, Mark Spitz (at right), who won 7 Gold Medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and is a hunger advocate.  A check with the record-setting total is pictured above. Food pantries across state receive significant contribution from Maine CUs to combat summertime hunger

While most people are thinking about being enjoying all that Maine has to offer in the summertime, such as being at the beach, lake, barbecues, festivals and parks, the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger shined the light on a major problem in the state - summertime hunger. Recently, Maine CUs contributed more than $20,000 to food pantries in each Maine county to provide support and raise awareness for this issue.

Skimming education for consumers being provided by Maine CUs

The Maine Credit Union League's expertise and perspective on financial issues continues to resonate with media outlets, as the League has been called upon recently by various media outlets to help educate consumers on skimming and offer ways to protect themselves.

First quarter stats all positive for Maine CUs

For Maine's credit unions, 2016 got off to a strong start. In recently-released first quarter statistics by the Maine Credit Union League, Maine's credit unions grew in every major, measurement category including adding more than 5,000 new members bringing total membership to an all-time high at 672,672 members statewide.
