What began with 7 teams raising $575 for children with cancer and their families back in 1994, has now grown to regularly sell-out with a field of approximately 60 adult and junior teams, depending on the year. A Junior Swish-Out for Middle School children was added in 2011, and a 5th/6th grade division was added in 2016. To date, the event has now raised more than $425,000 for children with cancer and their families.
Organizing a team
From co-workers, family members, neighbors, friends, teams are very diverse. There is no maximum size limit on the number of players on one team but at least one member of the opposite sex must be on the court at all times. All players in the adult division must be 15 years of age or older to participate in the Swish-Out. This is a 3-on-3, co-ed, double elimination event with a focus on FUN. There are three divisions for adults (Elite - Most competitive; Just For Fun - limited to 32 teams; Just For Fun - Least competitive; Forever Young - all players must be 40 years of age or older(except one player can be under 40) and field is limited to 8 teams! For the Junior Swish-Out, same criteria as the adult tournament. There are now three divisions by grades - 6th-8th; and 5th/6th.
